The study examines how the Hanafi school of thought has shaped religious verdicts (fatwas) in the region over different periods, from the early Islamic era to contemporary times. It highlights the role of prominent scholars, madrasas, and religious institutions in interpreting and issuing fatwas based on Hanafi jurisprudence. The study also investigates the impact of socio-political changes on the fatwa-issuing process, particularly during the colonial period, post-independence era, and modern legislative reforms. It analyzes the methodology adopted by Hanafi jurists in addressing evolving legal and social issues while maintaining adherence to traditional Islamic jurisprudence. Using a qualitative research approach, the study relies on historical sources, classical Hanafi texts, and contemporary fatwas issued in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The findings reveal that while the Hanafi fatwa tradition in the region remains deeply rooted in classical jurisprudence, it has also adapted to new challenges, including modern legal frameworks and socio-cultural transformations. The study concludes that the evolution of Hanafi fatwas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reflects a dynamic interplay between tradition and reform, ensuring the continued relevance of Islamic jurisprudence in the region.

Keywords: Hanafi Fatwa, Islamic Jurisprudence, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Evolution of Fatwa, Religious Institutions

}, number={01}, journal={`}, author={Raza Muhammad and Dr.Taj ud Din Al-Azhari}, year={2025}, month={Feb.}, pages={1019–1024} }
