AB - <p><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p>The current research article explores the transitional impact occured in <strong>Bimala’s</strong> character from traditionalism to modernism in “<strong>Rabindranath Tagore’s”</strong> Bengali novel “<strong>The Home and the World</strong>”. The novel examined the socio-political conditions of the inhabitants of the sub-continent during British colonial rule. The Indian Independence Movement was expedited after the Swadeshi movement. The character of Bimala is the core element of the novel for portraying the conventional domestic settings and women’s role in the Indian Independence Movement. Specifically, the researcher with the support of evidence elucidates transitions in the character of Bimala. </p><p><strong>Keywords</strong>: Swadeshi Movement, Indian Independence Movement, Bimala, traditionalism, modernism, transitions</p>
