Contemporary Applications of the Principles of Governance Adopted by Prophetic Rulers

Abstract

The survival, prosperity, and stability of any human society intrinsically depend on a just and robust system of governance. In the contemporary era, prevalent political, economic, and social ideologies such as secular democracy, authoritarianism, and monarchical systems have failed to provide humanity with enduring peace, true equality, and spiritual tranquility despite their lofty claims. The modern political landscape is severely plagued by corruption, systemic inequality, moral decay, and the absolute despotism of the ruling elite. In stark contrast to these worldly, materialistic models, the Islamic concept of governance is not a pursuit of power or authority; rather, it is a profound divine trust (Amanah) and a moral obligation aimed at establishing absolute justice and ensuring the worldly and eternal well-being of mankind. Because the lives of the Prophets serve as the ultimate paradigm of guidance for humanity, a critical and academic study of their universal principles of governance offers the only sustainable solution to contemporary political and administrative crises.
