Abstract

This study examines the influence of green human resource management (GHRM) practices on pro-environmental behaviors, focusing on the mediating role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the tourism and hospitality sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan. The target population comprises owners and managers of hotels and restaurants who are involved in organizational decision-making, human resource management, and environmental initiatives. A quantitative research approach was adopted, and cross-sectional data were collected from 357 respondents through self-administered Likert-scale questionnaires using cluster sampling.

Data were analyzed exclusively using SmartPLS to test the proposed hypotheses through structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between GHRM practices and pro-environmental behaviors, while CSR significantly mediates this relationship. These results highlight the importance of integrating green HRM practices with CSR initiatives to promote environmentally responsible workplace behaviors. The study recommends that hotel and restaurant owners and managers implement green recruitment, environmental training, and sustainable HR policies alongside CSR initiatives to strengthen environmental sustainability in the hospitality sector.
